Known for creating captivating songs, this five-piece band from Saskatoon brings the orchestra to the party. Minor Matter uses unconventional instruments such as oboe, basson and valve trombone to create chilling tunes that are folk-ish in nature but are seemingly inspired by an early ’90s lo-fi sound.
Pulling on the classical music background shared by some of the band’s members, Minor Matter draws in any crowd in an eerie Pied Piper kind of way. Their music is layers upon layers of crafted intricacies and flourishes intertwined with light-hearted lyrics.
In August of this year the band released Concept of a Knife, which features indie-rock style phrasing, thick instrumentation and delightful rhythmic structures.
If you’re after something a little unorthodox to accompany you on free-spirited walks, you should check these folks out.
