This week, we here at Mixtape are going to do something a little different for the Mix Pick. You see, we heard that a massive group of East Coast performers and a handful of businesses along Halifax’s Gottingen Street have joined forces to raise money for stabbing victim Scott Jones, at an event set to take place tomorrow, November 28, and we think that’s pretty rad. So this week, we picked this whole event as something you should check out.
A brutal attack on Thanksgiving weekend left Jones, a 27-year-old music teacher from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, with a severed spinal cord paralyzing him from the waist down. After reports that the attack was a hate crime against Jones’ sexuality, thousands of people have already flocked together to show support for Jones. Now hundreds more are looking to participate through music and performance.
On the event’s คาสิโนฟรีไม่มีเงินฝาก Facebook page, organizer Georgia Richards is quoted: “This event is an opportunity to support Scott financially as his whole life changes, and to celebrate his courageous spirit. It is also a chance to take a stand against intolerance – we won’t stop speaking up, protecting each other and making our community feel safe. Everyone deserves to be safe. And we need you to help us.”
The event will see six venues showcasing more than 40 musical, spoken-word, comedy and drag performers showcasing their talents for this great cause. Musical artists performing during the event include Paper Lions, Rich Aucoin, Ghettosocks, Dana Beeler and many, many more. The Full line up is as follows:
